High School Volunteer works with Cat

Community Service at MHS can help you stand out when you apply to college.

Community Service for School

Are you looking for a unique learning experience to complete community service hours for school?  Volunteering at Monadnock Humane Society will teach you a lot while satisfying your animal-loving soul.

You'll learn about animal welfare in general, and become a part of how Monadnock Humane Society carries out our mission. You'll help with shelter tasks (laundry and housekeeping) and animal care.

Shelter Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Youth Volunteers (ages 14 and 15) must be accompanied by a parent/guardian 18 years of age or older at all times.

The adult accompanying the Youth Volunteer must also attend an orientation and the appropriate special training. Volunteers ages 14-17 may work with our small animals and cats.

You must be at least 18 years old to work with our dogs.

Community Service at MHS can build resumes

Internships at MHS are designed to answer your educational requirements and build your resume.

Internships at MHS are resume builders. We can provide internship opportunities in all aspects of the work we do here—animal care, marketing and communications, non-profit administration, information technology, workplace safety, and more. We are happy to work with motivated students to develop internships focused on your specific academic requirements.

Internships are typically unpaid and last for 6-12 months. Developing an Internship takes time, so please begin planning an internship with us at least 3 months in advance of your start date. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator by email at volunteers@humanecommunity.org or by phone at (603) 354-4022 to discuss internship opportunities at MHS.
