We are so excited that Grace has chosen MHS as one of the non-profits for her birthday gift! We hope you will choose to donate towards the machine that can help give the animals another chance—the Solo Chemistry Analyzer.
Many of pets come to MHS in perfectly good health. And, then there are many who come to us with medical conditions, or as seniors (especially in cat populations). Thankfully, MHS has a veterinary clinic with a licensed veterinarian and a technician, and many staff who assist in treating these animals.
The MHS Vet Clinic has a lot of great medical equipment for surgery and procedures. However, before we can begin helping the animals in our clinic, we need to be able to test and diagnose. In the case of thyroid testing (for hypo and hyperthyroidism—a fairly common disorder that can only be diagnosed through blood work) we currently must send bloodwork out to a special lab. This is costly (each test costs $50+, and local vets charge up to $75), and more importantly it takes a long time to get results (sometimes 3–4 days). The time it takes can sometimes be the critical window we need to begin treatment (which is very manageable and cost-effective once we know we can begin).
The SCA Machine will also help us test for diabetes, and manage the treatment of diabetic patients. And, it will help to avoid other costly diagnostics such as ultrasounds and radio graphs to diagnose pancreatitis.
We are hoping you will consider a gift to help us purchase a life-saving SCA Machine for our work. Total cost for the machine: $4,435 (note: if we do not reach the full amount, we will apply for funding through a foundation).
