Nakita’s family fell upon hard times. Without a home and the resources needed to best provide for her, they knew they could not keep her at this difficult time in their lives. With a heavy heart, they decided to bring her to MHS for emergency shelter and care.
Nakita’s story has a happy ending. After being in emergency boarding for a month, her family decided to give her up for adoption. We treated her for heartworm and other medical issues. Because Nakita is an older dog, we knew she would need a very special family to take her home, and she found that family as she waited here at MHS. Looking to expand his canine family, Michael visited our adoption center and fell in love with Nakita. She went home with her new parents, Michael and Dee, to live with Jade, a one-legged parrot, and Tigger, a senior dachshund, both of whom were also adopted from Monadnock Humane Society.
