As Monadnock Humane Society celebrates 150 years of life-changing work, we’re reflecting on the many animals whose lives have been transformed with the help of compassionate supporters like you. With two-thirds of our $150,000 fundraising goal already raised, we’re so close to reaching our target—but we still need your help to ensure more animals like Leo receive the care they deserve.
Meet Leo, a one-year-old German Shepherd, who was once the victim of unimaginable abuse. Leo’s journey with MHS began after our Humane Agent received heart-wrenching video evidence of Leo being subjected to cruelty and abuse. She shared that it was one of the most difficult videos she ever had to listen to and watch while she has been in her role. The disturbing video evidence of Leo’s suffering made it clear that he needed urgent care, so our Humane Agent worked swiftly with local law enforcement to get him to safety at MHS. His medical intake exam showed that he had a fractured bone as the result of the abuse he endured.
During his time at MHS, Leo showed he was still capable of love and trust and opened up quickly to our staff and volunteers who showered him with the attention and care he deserved. While in our care, Leo’s owner was found guilty of animal abuse and sentenced to a pet ownership ban. Leo was adopted into a wonderful home and is now living the life he always deserved.
Leo’s new family shares that he is a “silly goofball” who loves to give hugs, play with his dog friends, and watch his human brother play football. He has brought endless amounts of joy to his new family.
Will you help us reach our $150,000 goal and give more animals, like Leo, the chance to thrive? Every donation brings us one step closer to ensuring that more pets have the happy endings they deserve.
Thank you for making stories like Leo’s possible!
