Pet of the Week

Django

| Male | Siberian Husky Mix | 5 Years 9 Months Old | Black |

Hi, I’m Django — a 5-year-9-month-old Siberian Husky mix with a heart as big as my bark (and yes, I’m a talker!). I’ve lived most of my life in one loving home, but when a new baby came along, I started to feel overwhelmed and confused, especially when I thought I had to protect the little one from everyone else. That’s how I ended up here at the shelter — a place full of noise, unfamiliar smells, and too many dogs, which makes it hard for me to relax. I really miss having my own space and my people! I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and walk nicely on a leash (though I get vocal when I see other pups). I know my basic commands — sit, lay down, speak, and paw — and if you’ve got cheese, you’ve definitely got my attention! I’d do best in a calm home where I’m your one and only animal! I like other dogs, but right now I’m too stressed to share my space. I’ve been around cats and done okay with slow intros, and I’ve also lived with kids — but I need any tiny humans in the house to be 12 or older, since younger ones make me nervous! I’m on anti-anxiety meds to help me cope, and I’ll need time to decompress and learn that I’m safe again. Once I trust you, I’ll happily snuggle on the bed or couch and give you my best kisses! I love running free in a fenced yard, swimming on warm days, and being close to my people! I’m looking for someone patient, kind, and willing to give me a second chance at a peaceful, loving life. Could that be you?! Please come down and visit with me during our open hours Thursday through Sunday 11a.m. to 3p.m.!
