Pet of the Week

Carl

5 year old Male, Domestic Short Hair, Black
Hello there, I’m Carl. I’ve been here at the shelter for 245 days—the longest of any cat! It’s not that I don’t deserve a home. I do. I just haven’t found my person yet! I didn’t choose to end up here. I came from a hoarding situation and then lost the only home I knew because I didn’t “fit” my owner’s lifestyle. I don’t ask for much. Just a quiet, predictable place where I can be myself. Right now, the shelter is too much for me. It’s loud, overwhelming, and full of fast movements that make me nervous. I mostly stay in my bed, watching, waiting. But here’s what I do love: Other cats. I feel safest with feline friends around. A home with other calm, confident cats would help me come out of my shell! A routine. I need someone who understands that I will take time—maybe a lot of time—to trust. Small, cozy spaces. I love hidey houses, soft beds, and places where I can feel secure! Churu treats. They are the way to my heart! I am a very gentle soul, but if you rush at me, I might swat. It’s not aggression, it’s fear. I need someone who understands spirit cats—the ones who need patience, space, and love on their terms. If you have a calm, quiet home, experience with shy cats, and the heart to give a guy like me a chance, maybe you’re my person! I’ve waited long enough. Will you be the one who finally takes me home!? Please come and visit with me during our open hours Thursday through Sunday 11a.m. to 3p.m.! March 31, 2025
