Cheddar’s Miraculous Transformation: A Story of Resilience and Care
We are excited to announce that we are two-thirds of the way to reaching our goal of raising $150,000 in honor of Monadnock Humane Society’s historic 150th anniversary! Can we count on you to help us cross the finish line?
As we celebrate 150 years of community impact, we are reflecting on our life-saving work and would like to share a powerful rescue story with you—one of a cat named Chadwick (now Cheddar), whose story would not be possible without supporters like YOU.
Meet Chadwick – a wonderful orange cat whose journey is nothing short of miraculous! Chadwick was surrendered into our care after being hit by a car. He arrived at MHS with many wounds, a broken pelvis, and a necrotic tail that required amputation. Our team immediately stepped in to give him the care he desperately needed—treating his wounds, providing fluids & medication, and closely monitoring his healing. He required weeks of cage rest, but despite it all, Chadwick remained a fighter and would greet us with love every day.
Then, while he was recovering, fate stepped in! A veterinary technician from another organization, who happened to already be caring for another injured orange cat, met and fell in love with Chadwick. She adopted him and was the perfect person to give him the special care he needed while he finished recovering. Now known as Cheddar, he’s not just surviving—he’s thriving!
His new family shares: “Since adopting Cheddar, he has celebrated every holiday with a kitty photo shoot and become quite the Mr. Mom to the kittens I’ve fostered. He spends his days cuddling with his younger brothers and warming the babies during kitten season, teaching them how to be a cat! I’ve never felt greater love than what Cheddar has brought to our happy home.”
Cheddar’s story is just one of the hundreds of examples of the vital work MHS does every year. Stories like this are not possible without you. We need your help to hit our goal and continue providing care for animals like Cheddar. Every dollar brings us closer to ensuring that every pet has a second chance.
