Monadnock Humane Society Saves Cat & Dog in Severe Conditions

As we prepare to celebrate the joy and warmth of the holiday season, we want to share two heartwarming stories of the life-saving work our dedicated staff performed recently.

Meet this little warrior named Beau. Beau, a seven-month-old Great Dane puppy, came into our care in a dire state—severely emaciated and suffering from a foreign body obstruction. Despite his frail condition, MHS immediately sprang into action. Our team rushed Beau into emergency surgery and successfully removed an obstructive toy lodged in his intestines. We were not sure he would survive the surgery because of his poor condition and severe dehydration.

Miraculously, Beau survived the procedure. His success was a testament to our team’s expertise and care. While the surgery and his aftercare cost us thousands of dollars, witnessing Beau’s recovery and strength was incredible. He bounced back under the watchful eye of a skilled staff member until he fully recovered. Beau has since been adopted into a loving home where he is thriving.

Then there is Pricilla, a brave soul who came to us as a stray after being hit by a car. With a fractured jaw and a broken hind leg, her appearance was heartbreaking. Despite efforts to locate her owner, no one came forward. Our collaboration with Cheshire Animal Hospital proved to be crucial for Pricilla. Dr. Lee Pearson repaired Pricilla’s jaw with a special apparatus and skillfully pinned her leg. Pricilla is still with us at MHS so she can get the care she needs. She has been making great progress and her journey embodies the spirit of resilience and hope.

The compassion of our community has always been a source of hope and change for our furry friends, and this year, we need your support more than ever.
