Monadnock Humane Society has animals that desperately need your help. In the past year, we have taken on multiple challenging and costly animal cruelty cases and are reaching out to you for assistance. In just four of the cases, we have spent upwards of $100,000 to provide the necessary care and support these innocent animals deserved. Despite our team’s exhaustive efforts, some animals did not survive upon rescue.
In December, in collaboration with other animal welfare authorities, we addressed a distressing situation involving three dogs, one rabbit, and a staggering number of sixty-nine cats living in a small apartment. An individual reported this situation after purchasing sick kittens from the residence. Many of these cats had untreated upper respiratory infections and some of the cats died due to the severity of their conditions. We provided medical care, food, and boarding to the surviving animals. The previous owner surrendered a large portion of the animals upon warrant issuance and has since been found guilty of multiple counts of animal cruelty. The charming cat pictured here was one of the animals rescued from the apartment.
Shortly after, in February, we were contacted by police regarding a hoarding situation where multiple exotic birds were found in deplorable living conditions in a shed without proper insulation. During the rescue, we discovered one bird had already died, while several others were ill. Our staff promptly retrieved the birds from below-freezing temperatures and ensured they received the necessary care from our medical team. From this same property, we also rescued five dogs and one cat. The previous owner surrendered the cat, which has since been adopted to a loving home, leaving us with three dogs and three birds still under our care. The medical expenses and boarding costs for these animals have become quite significant.
In April, we rescued twenty-two dogs (fourteen adults & eight puppies) from a New Hampshire home. We successfully brought these animals to safety by working with the state police who, aware of our expertise and strong rapport with local authorities, reached out to us for assistance. These dogs were found with untreated medical conditions and injuries, and the cost to care for these dogs grows every single day. The previous owner has since been found guilty of multiple counts of animal cruelty and neglect. The dog in the picture above had quills stuck in his chin that the previous owner knowingly left in place, and the puppy shown here was also retrieved from the same rescue effort.
We are humbly requesting your support to help us achieve our goal of raising $100,000 to offset the cost of these cruelty cases. We rely on community support to continue our efforts. Your generous donation will directly contribute to providing vital care and ongoing support for these animals who have endured unimaginable suffering.
