Meet Our Expert Pet Trainers

Our friendly and experienced training staff enjoy teaching people and their canine companions.  We use positive reinforcement training methods that are enjoyable and effective in training your dog to be well behaved family companions, as well as motivated canine competitors.  Our trainers continue to expand their working knowledge of dog training and learning by attending many seminars, trials and classes annually.  Several of our instructors are Certified Professional Dog Trainers, and others are currently working on requirements to become CPDTs.

Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed

Trainer- Basic Training Classes, Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog Training, Rally Obedience and Rally FrEe

Amee Abel is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT.) She is an approved Tester/Observer for Alliance of Therapy Dogs and an approved Evaluator for the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen program. She teaches a variety of classes at Monadnock Humane Society. Additionally, she has availability for private lessons here at MHS.

In her classes, Amee makes training fun for both the dog and the person.  She uses dog friendly training methods that are fast and effective, with an emphasis on helping handlers prepare their dogs to be well mannered whether they are out in public or around their home. She frequently uses role-playing and games to help students prepare their dogs for real-life situations.

Amee became interested in the healing power of the human/animal bond when she witnessed how her family’s dog worked magic with her disabled child. As a Tester/Observer for Alliance of Therapy Dogs, she has helped many Monadnock region dog owners get started doing volunteer visits, and looks forward to helping many more.  “There is a huge need for therapy dog teams to volunteer at schools, assisted living facilities, and hospitals,” she says.    Amee also leads our Monadnock Therapy Pets meetings which occur monthly at MHS.  As a frequent and successful competitor in Rally, Obedience, Freestyle, and Agility, Amee feels that “Dog sports are a great way to build the bond between you and your dog,” she says. “They take you beyond sit, stay, come and give you a way to celebrate your teamwork.”

Amee is constantly expanding her knowledge by studying with other world-class trainers.  Over many years of training and learning,  she has attended seminars with Suzanne Clothier, Dr. Ian Dunbar, and Susan Garrett.  At the heart of Amee’s style is the belief that living with dogs should be joyful for both the people and the dogs

Ashley Lang is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT.)  Her passion for dogs  has been strong for many years.
