150 Years of Compassion: A Timeline of Monadnock Humane Society's Impact

1970

1970

A new name: We became Monadnock Region Humane Society. Focus began to shift to animal welfare, rather than simply cruelty prevention. People began to think about the relationship between animals and humans.

1995

1995

New name: We become Monadnock Humane Society! We continue to serve over 40 cities and towns in the Monadnock region and beyond. 

1997

MHS initiates STAR (Socialization & Training for Adoption Readiness) Team, teaching shelter dogs manners and reducing their stress at the shelter. The program offers extra human and humane companionship for the shelter animals while guaranteeing better pets for adopters.

1999

MHS breaks ground for a new building located at 101 West Swanzey Road!

2000

2000

MHS moved into the new building. The building features the Learning and Adoption center, which has both individual and communal living spaces for cats and dogs, the Guinane Training Center, a full veterinary clinic, a Boarding & Daycare space, a retail store, walking trails, and more!

2008
