On Saturday, September 6th, Monadnock Humane Society’s first-ever “Wheels for Paws” (W4P) Charity Motorcycle Ride was held. A total of 39 Motorcycles and 60 riders participated riding along a 100 mile ride through some of the most beautiful, scenic roads of NH.
As MHS volunteers, staff, sponsors and even some of our available dogs cheered riders on, “CJ the DJ” kept everyone entertained with upbeat music and banter. Upon their return, riders were treated to a barbecue, 50/50 Raffle and a Brown Bag Raffle with items donated by local businesses.
W4P event chair, Max Mitchell, who has been leading the Jaffrey Chamber’s motorcycle Poker Run for seven years, came to MHS with the W4P idea and offered his experience both as an organizer and a motorcyclist. “I saw this event as a natural fit for Monadnock Humane Society,” said Mitchell. “Bikers are real animal lovers and are also known for being incredibly generous.”
And generous they were, the event raised over $6,500, well exceeding MHS’s $5,000 goal!
MHS staff would like to once again thank all the riders who gathered donations and participated in the ride, it’s lead sponsor, JimEddie’s Catering in Keene for the delicious food, CJ the DJ for the festive atmosphere and the many local business who donated items for the Brown Bag Raffle.
MHS’s “wheel’s” are already turning as we plan for and look forward to the 2015 2nd Annual W4P event!!!
