With the holidays over, it’s time to turn our attention to the other joys winter offers. Fans of the fluffy white stuff can enjoy it in many ways. Here’s one way to enjoy it and not be cold: visit Kismet the Therapy Dog on Saturday, January 14, at MHS’s Paws to Read program. Kizzy is a standard Poodle, and he’s actually MADE of fluffy white stuff! And, there’s nothing he likes more at this time of year than cozying up to a young reader with a good book. Children can read to him and his other therapy dog friends from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Monadnock Humane Society.
Paws to Read@MHS is a free monthly program of Monadnock Humane Society that pairs safe, friendly, therapy dogs with children to improve reading skills. Reading to a dog makes reading fun. The more children read, the better readers they become.
About Our Dogs
Young readers and their parents can expect to meet a variety of friendly dogs. These dogs are owned and registered therapy dogs who volunteer to provide reading help. They are not available for adoption. (A therapy dog’s job is to visit and make people feel better. These are not service or assistance dogs.)
