Thanks to you, our Shoe Drive fundraiser was a Success!

Thanks to you, our Shoe Drive fundraiser was a Success!

For the past month, we’ve been collecting gently used shoes, boot, sandals, high heels, or galoshes to raise $1,000. Throughout the Monadnock region, animals lovers have gathered up their unwanted shoes, and brought them to our door. Our great volunteers have sorted through every bag and box inspecting and counting the donations. Twenty-five pairs, rubber-banded together fill a bag; 100 bags was our goal.

And, we did it! We have bags of shoes in the garage, in the closets, and even in our offices. But, thanks to you, this fundraiser will help us feed our cats, dogs, bunnies, chinchillas, rats, mice, and every other critter waiting for a home.

Better still, this fundraiser does more good than simply feeding our animals. Those shoes become part of a network aimed at raising families out of poverty in Haiti, Honduras, and other South American countries by creating small locally owned and operated stores stocked with our old shoes.

All donated shoes will be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise partners in developing nations. Funds2Orgs helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses in countries such as Haiti, Honduras and other nations in Central America and Africa. Proceeds from the shoe sales are used to feed, clothe and house their families. According to a Funds2Orgs press release, “One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school.”  Find out more about Funds2Orgs at their website: www.funds2orgs.com

And, Thank you!
