Come and Watch Them Learn!

By Laurie Phillips

A well-trained dog is a well-behaved dog that is more likely to be adopted. Teaching the shelter dogs to sit, lie down, walk nicely on leash, greet properly, stay, settle and come when called are the basic manners any canine should know.

Our volunteers come on a weekly basis to help train our shelter dogs to learn these manners so that they will be well-behaved dogs for their new owners! And, sometimes their new owners find them in this class.

It’s fun to watch – the public is invited to attend. It’s also fun to be the volunteer who does the training. If you are interested in helping with dog training, please contact Margaret Atkinson at margareta@humanecommunity.org  for more information.
